Police have rescued a woman who was forced into prostitution by her business partner to cover a debt.

The 39-year-old Muscovite was kept in captive for two months in the Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk before police could identify her location, they reported on Tuesday.

The unfortunate woman had offered a fresh fish seller in Khabarovsk to be an intermediary between him and retailers in Moscow. However, she failed to deliver and a lot worth about $10,000 ended up rotting in a warehouse.

The enraged businessman had criminal contacts and ordered the woman to be kidnapped and forced into prostitution to pay back the debt. She was allowed to contact her mother to describe the situation, but was forbidden from revealing her whereabouts.

Her mother offered ransom to the pimps, and they were subsequently arrested when they tried to collect the money.
