An embassy employee has been sentenced in Germany to one year’s suspended sentence for killing two students in Moscow in a road incident.
Alex stop spewing your tripe. That sentence was BS, but don't blame this whole situation on the German people or the West. The west already has enough problems with the New World Order breathing down their necks.
This is democracy! Look at that criminal country named RUSSIA!
I am outraged by this verdict, and by the ignorant response in the German press. However, I am outraged, as well, by similar verdicts in German law cases against drivers of any nationality, here (normally native Germans of course). Traffic and cars are treated as "sacred cows" and severe acts of traffic law violation even causing losses of life find mild sentences you would not expect from non-traffic fields of criminal cases. Thus, outrages though as I am, and a deep friend of Russians from experience I would ask not to see this terrible ignorance of the court as a general offense of our neighbour, specifically. (see for example http://www.jurablogs.com/de/amtsgericht-aschersleben-7-monate-auf-bewaehrung-fuer-fahrlaessige-toetung)
That's really bad. Germany should have waived diplomatic for such a case. The idea of German courts hearing cases for offences committed by their citizens in other countries seems to be done to avoid extradition and a "real trial" where the offence has been committed. A German doctor was fined 5000 Euros and is still practising medicine after he killed two elderly people in England in one night by giving them massive drug overdoses. He ran away to Germany before he could be detained and the Germans will not extradite him to the UK as they considered the matter closed.

Typical western behavior ... you should see how they treat the guest workers here in western europe.
