The Democratic Party in the US Senate was forced to kill potential clean energy legislation because there were not enough votes for it to pass. The only changes that will remain are restrictions on offshore drilling.

The problem with clean energy legislation in the US does not only involve legislators unwillingness to pass it based on economic fears of their constituents, but even more so with the Big money that Lobbyists...mostly in the form of Big Businesses throw at these same legislators to vote in Their favor! Lobbying is no more than legalized Bribery....which seems to be a way of life of most politicians anyway. If the price is right, it gets passed...if not, then it doesn't! Alternative energies and the means to implement them have existed for generations but the big businesses who profit from our unquenchable desire to speed around the countryside have kept these technologies from coming to fruition simply because of all the money to be made in keeping us using Nineteenth Century technologies. (fossil fuel combustion based tech is more like cave-man technology....what more is an automobile than a fire in a box attached to a wheel??) We'd be wiser to ride the electronic highway and surf our computers to work every day rather than waste fuels traveling to and from a job every day! The US even came up with the idea of Mag-Lev trains in the 1930's, which have finally been implemented in China! Couple that technology with Geothermal and you have very close to zero emissions...if it's global warming you're afraid of. What's Worse than global warming is the Global Control on human populations that Big Energy companies currently hold!
