Kosovo and Metohija enjoyed "independence" under the Third Reich also, Kosmet is Serbia and will return after inevitable collapse of the Fourth Reich.

In my opinion Serb government and military bodies should return to that province and Kosovo should get autonomy . I'm waiting for the sentence of the International Court of Justice.

How can a group who hijacked a province of Serbia claim the independence of it? Kosovo is the holy land of Serbia just like Vatican City to Italy. This 2 year "Anniversary" is the celebration of a stolen province by the thieves. What really should be done is a massive reconstruction of all Churches, Monasteries & Christian Cemeteries which were destroyed, vandalized to a point where the hijackers claim they never existed. This so-called "independence" is actually the enslavement of Serbs in their own land!

RT is a news program I like for it's in depth interviews, its informative guests that you normally don't see in mainstream American TV. Having said that everyone knows that Serbia is a staunch ally of Russia almost the same way Israel and the US are allied. Now I don't expect main stream Russian Media to be objective on this issue but I DO expect RT to be somewhat objective -or maybe I am being naive? Please dont tell me that you are -when NO Albanian quotes or interviews are displayed in the present article or any other news article . One can start by going to Balkanwitness.org or read Takis Michas ''Unholy Allience"-the rapes murders and destruction of the Albanians by the Serbs has to be told by the media, or by who else would you sugest?

@Naim If Serbia is "Serbia is a staunch ally of Russia" why than Serbia never had more than moral support. There was no any military help or support of any kind during the conflict. The same goes for Serbia. How can you call Serbia "staunch ally" if Serbia has asked to become an EU member and not in security alliance like Belarus for example. Not to mention that Serbian government that was installed by CIA color revolution will ask now(under USA pressure) to become NATO member! Which automatically means recognition of Kosovo independence. 80% of population is AGAINST that but I'm sure that they will do that anyway NATO and CIA sponsored KLA did infinitely more crimes against Serb population and nobody talks about that except Russia which just gives credit to their OBJECTIVITY and doesn't make them necessarily "allay". Russia by doing that confirms to be one of the rare countries that has INDEPENDENCE of thought and action despite USA world hegemony! Kosovo today is in every meaning of the words criminal self proclaimed country, one of the symbols of USA&NATO terror in the world. Serbs have waited long time to liberate Serbia from another aggressor - Turks. They will wait till the moment comes to liberate Kosovo also!

the problem for Serbia is that Russia has showed no real support, Russia talks alot but does very little, where were the Russians in 1999? Where are there troops now? I bet if Russia deployed S-400 in Southern Serbia and put a base there then the EU/NATO may listen to Serbia. As far as i can see Serbia lacks any real muscle behind it and hence why it is moving towards the EU and possible entry into NATO, I am sorry Russians but your leaders have no spine. Lets looks at the facts you have backed down on an arms sale to Iran and the US will still put a missile shield on your borders and what will you do?? NOTHING. I fully support Serbia regarding Kosovo and i feel Russia has let you down. Once Serbia and Albania are in the EU the Kosovo border will not matter because it will be controlled by the EU.

"where were the Russians in 1999?", asks himself dave(UK) The answer is -> at the Prishtina airport! Russian troops were the first ones to come to Serbian province of Kosovo! However Serbs decided to overthrow S. Milosevic, who was defending Serbia in 1999. against first ever NATO aggression in the history of the block, in a CIA led and Soros financed "revolution", and to elect ultra-pro-western parties, who have since then been trying to become more pro-western than the westerners themselves. Something like someone trying to become greater catholic than Pope himself. Results of that approach? We now all clearly see the results but I predicted the results 10 years ago -> AFTER Serbs overthrew Milosevic in CIA led "colored revolution" (yellow revolution) and elected pro-western government Serbs have been ethnically cleansed from the province (2004 pogroms), the western imperialists even formally recognized "independence" of the province (2008), and Serbia proper itself has become a colony of the western imperialists in a neoliberal looting madness. Now its my turn to ask the question -> how can Russia support Serbs if the Serbs themselves do not want to support Serbian cause and Serbian interests? How can Russians be greater Serbs than the Serbs themselves? greetings from Croatia

Err… What is in stake? Brotherhood? Traditions? To be quite frankly, Serbs many times betrayed Russians. Why Russians should sacrifice themselves one more time. If anything Serbia can propose to Russians why not? But send the boys to die for ephemeral ideas? No, this time is over. About missile shield Russians can do quite a lot. First what comes in mind is INF treaty. Arms sale to Iran? You mean SS-300. Well, Russians did not back down. The game is more complicated.

Two year anniversary since NATO and the west gave themselves a big pat on the shoulder for a succesful ethnic cleansing of Kosovo. Two years on, UN security council resolution 1244 still stands, hundreds of thousands of Serbs have been forced out of their homes, those choosing to remain are forced to live like prisoners in their own home or be murdered, camp bondsteel stands as a symbol of the US military annexation of what is Serbian territory, the war criminal Bill Clinton walks free while being portrayed in the western media as a "hero" helping the poor of Haiti, (probably thanks to the US) and one other thing that has never changed: THE LEGAL IRREFUTABLE FACT FOR ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT INTERNATIONAL LAW: KOSOVO IS LEGALLY PART OF SERBIA, REGARDLESS OF WHO HAS DE-FACTO CONTROL. I condem without equivacation the Israel like apartheid entity that has been carved out here by the efforts of the west, and sold to the western public as a great achievement of the west sticking up for the rights of minorities.

" Нећемо дозволити да нам одузму оно што је наше" - Вук Јеремић ``We will not allow us to take away what is ours``, says Minister Vuk Jeremić I am Serbian, and I believe in support of our brothers, Russians. I am from central Serbia, but I am studding in Kosovska Mitrovica. I know how Serbians lives there, it`s very sad. Kosovo and Metohija is more than one province for Serbian people. It`s our holy land. It`s very sad to see how Shqiptarëts are changing our history. Everything what was our, now they are calling their. I can`t tell you with the words how hard and sad life is in south Serbian parts of Ibar river. I sow with my eyes life in Velika Hoca, and I have a lot of friends there. You can fell that life, only if you see it with your eyes. It`s sad to watch all of that... Albanians with their lobbies and their money are blinding rest of the world. In that way you can see the power of propaganda. They are not fighting for independent, they are fighting for one more albanian country on Balkan. But, not only that ``Kosovo`` now is mafia, narcotic ``country`` of war criminals. There, low is death. Kosovo and Metohija, holy land of Serbian history, people, and church, now is going to be albanian black hole in Balkan, in Europe, in the world. WE MUST STOP THAT!

Epsilon, the war against Turkish Empire was not 700 years ago. Turkish Empire was in the decline in 19th century, which caused the Austro-Hungarian Empire to annex Bosnia, and ultimately start WWI. The Turkish Empire left some parts of Balkans in 19th century, leading up to the Congress of Berlin in 1886. The result was the imposition of Austrian and German princes in Romania and Bulgaria. These countries never saw a day of freedom, after all the fighting, as the rulers of Europe put them under their thumb. Of all the Balkans, only Serbia, as limited as it emerged, emerged as an independent country. That in itself was a product of big power arrangements. Serbia became a symbol of resistance to nascent liberation movements withing Austro-Hungarian empire, particularly among Czech people. An atletic movement, that was in fact an underground libration movement, was founded with Serbian symbology, the Falcon. You can gain much more on those turbulent times from Rebecca West's Black Lamb and Grey Falcon. Following WWI, Turkish Empire left the southern Serbian provinces, what then was the name of today's Kosovo and Macedonia. The origins of Serbian statehood you can research easily, and the territory of today's Macedonia and Kosovo feature prominently. All this, unfortunately is not ancient history. Many Moslems of Balkans found themselves abandoned by the modern Turkey, and had many unresolved issues. Civilizationally, having to adjust themselves from the absolutely superior beings in all aspects of state governance, justice system, property rights and commerce --- to having it all lost, was difficult to bear. The chaos of WWI resulted in the most unfortunate ever creation, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The problems of this creation are with us till today.

Serbia only needs to learn patience. By not giving up legal rights to its province, Serbia is doing exactly what it should, and could, today. If we only look at the changing fortunes of the region in the last 100 years, we should be amazed. At the time of Bosnia annexation by the mightly Austro-Hungarian empire, who would have thought that the three great empires in 1910, would disappear. Russian Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire and Turkish Empire, all gone by 1918. Who would have ever thought that Serbia, at the end of WWI, that had the choice of consolidating all Serb-populated lands, from Croatia, accross Bosnia, Voivodina, and all Southers provinces --- Kosovo and Maceconia, chose not to accept this, for the Woodrow Wilson fantasy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. And who would have thought that, the world full of promise at the end of war to end all wars, was going to descend into the nightmare of WWII. And who would have thought that Vatican was going to give free hand, and that Croatia was going to get away with genocide, for Balkan to emerge in a new Yugoslavia. Who would have thought that the genocide against Serbs was going to be papered over in communist state, and that Serbia and Serbian church were going to be demolished in the period of "brotherhood and unity". Oh, yes, Tito was clever to give Serbs prominent positions, to insure that Croats and Slovenes thought that Serbs were in power. While quietly, imprisoning, killing and marginalizing all Serbs that did not buy into the dream. And who would have thought that US and Europe would support the Operation Storm, finishing Serbs in Croatia, while taking most of their land in Bosnia. And that the criminal families of Kosovo would have their "independence"? This erratic new world order will disappear just as those before them did. And when it does, can we imagine the results? No. But it would be smart not to make same mistakes..

Epsilon, don't be ridiculous. The last war Serbs fought Turks for the liberation of Serbia WAS 97 YEARS AGO (less than a century!, and Serbs from Serbia and Montenegro liberated a lot more than just what was considered serbian - see The Balkan Wars). After that, Turks fought against Serbs in the WWI, and afterwards whenever they had a chance. Turkish Foreign Minister announced that Turkey wants to re-establish its rule on the Balkans (during his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 2009). Just for you to know...

For all those illiterate ppl who tend to ask stupid questions as "when did the Russians help Serbia?" Well just to mention 3, rest of the list i really don't have time for, i suggest you to take some History lessons. 1. Serbia would not have bean recognized as an independent state if it wasn't for Russia when it insisted that this question is not negotiable at the Berlin congress 1884-1885 2. WW-1 The Russian Tsar Николай II,Александрович Романов (Nikolay II,Alexandrovich Romanov) on direct request from the Serbian parliament for military help against the Austro-Hungarian aggression entered WW-1 whit Russia. This great Man stretched out his and the hand of the entire Russian people when most needed and helped Serbia defend it's sovereignty and dignity. 3. Soviet Red Army once again helped to throw out the Nazi intruders and it's war machine. In 1944 the 57th Army under the command of Marshal Fyodor Ivanovich Tolbukhin, swept thru Yugoslavia whit it's mighty Army like an Inferno and annihilated any resistance from the Nazis. And subsequently on 24th of November 1944 liberated Belgrade together whit the Yugoslav Partisans.
