What an environment-friendly idea!

Commercial airliner of this kind would bust the competitors out of business and it would give the passengers that extra comfort during the flight which Boeing and Airbus have squeezed thromboses into the passenger’s veins during their flight. Nobody would mind a bit longer flight if the comfort is adequate as it would serve as unwinding trip for stressed up western businessmen.

Only one slight problem. Helium production is expensive and not carbon neutral by any means. Try here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helium#Modern_extraction :)

How can something resemble an "unidentified" flying object? I thought you couldn't tell what an unidentified object looked like.

Who cares if Helium extraction is carbon neutral or not? It is safer to handle an only slightly less efficient as a lifting gas than Hydrogen. Considering this will enable construction almost anywhere without requiring roads to be built and cranes to be driven to sites its use should save lots of meaningless carbon credits. BTW the whole concept of carbon credits is disgusting. It is like the world is a fat farm and those with the most money don't want to give up their fatty foods so they pay the poor people to eat all the healthy food so they can continue to eat rubbish. The civilised west leading the way as usual...

So they invented helium balloon with propellers. Yet another "great Russian project", good for propaganda. Nicely done.

Maybe Russia is ready to buy the technology of the Flying Saucer. It was invented in Canadada, Patented in the USA and rejected by Nasa, as many Oinkers at the Trough would become obsolete. They were sure that the Goose would keep on laying Golden Eggs with the technology of the sixties. No improvement was necessary.

I hope they consider using a mixture of hydrogen and helium. Hydrogen is much cheaper and provides greater lift, but it is flammable. By mixing it with helium they can eliminate the risk of fire/explosion. Helium is a limited and depleting resource.

I think if the power souce of a spaceship can use the nuclear power, the outspace research can get more benefit for the time staying and flying at the outspace will be longer,See,you have a disc shape spaceship. I think just make the size of a nuclear-reacter as small as a football.
