Despite what most may say. I believe that every arms race has benefited human civilization in a positive way. Most of today's technology was once researched for developing weapons, communicating and treating the wounded. Any space race - though the world will become a more dangerous place - will lay the foundation for the rest of civilization to discover space. I say "let it be so."

It is sad that space, a resource of exploration and technological advancement, should be such a stage for cold conflicts (hopefully they will never be warm...). Space should be explored and used for the benefit of mankind, and a stage for cooperation between countries. But I do understand Russia`s need for this anti-satellite weapons, as they cannot just watch other nations make them without doing it themselves.

Russia's great talents could be better utilized for humanity if Russia would go ahead and join Nato and the European Union. Your immediate neighbors have their crazy little problems with you, not because you are not a great nation, but because Russia is considered slow, a weight which must be carried. Being with Russia during the old soviet days reduced many people to poverty unnecessarily. Even today, Russia's economy is tiny compared to its potential. Denmark is bigger. Nor should Russia admit defeat as it has done, because Russia has not lost anything. It was just communism that lost out. To cease attacking, even when you are completely bankrupt and exhausted, is not defeat. Instead, Russia should admit failure of that noble-minded but kooky and dangerous government experiment, and get on with life. Worry about your pride later.

Every American will only find fault with Russia for developing weapons, because America wants to dominate and dictate to the whole world. They never cared for the destruction they have caused on other nations and their peoples. Their media is a cunning one at magnifying trivial aberrations of other countries, spreading misinformation while remaining stone silent about their own engineered holocausts. It is they who aided almost all the terrorists, miscreants, puppet governments, warlords, military dictators in the world while sermonizing about democracy and humar rights. They financed, supplied arms to and provoked terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan against Russia and now they are trying to use them against China. It is a very sad commentary on the world's most powerful superpower.

Hmm... anyone that thinks the US is the most powerful nation in the world is saddly mistaken lol i served in the US Army for 2 years, and did AV1 style mantainence on tanks such as the (M1A2 Abrams, and M2-Brad's) i was also a grunt in the 82nd Airborne 1st of the 404. Ross Nicholson, I think you should have written that report in 1992. A bit outdated now. Russia is one of the very few Surplus nations in the World. The USA owes Russia in excess of 500B USD, not to mention the 1Trillion USD that they owe China. The bankrupt, failing nation in this decade is the USA. If it weren't for the illegal wars they have been in for the last 8years, USA would probably be a thriving, booming economy, that the world could look to as a role model. But as it stands, the USA's mismanagement of funds, arrogance and corruption leave more than 40% of its citizens below the poverty line. America seems to be a very hipocritical and strange beast... on the one hand demanding democracy for Iraq, yet happy to work with military dictatorships in Pakistan and very undemocratic countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwaite. The secret is that America does not have principles and morals... it has interests. Kosovo is a special unique case. Georgia is another unique case where the opposite view to that taken in Kosovo applies simply because of US interests. Russia is not allow a sphere of influence. It cannot interfere in the Ukraine or Georgia. It seems however with the various coloured revolutions that the US sphere of influence is global. Under such conditions I would think Russian military spending should be maintained. Anti satellite weapons could also be used as anti space debris weapons too. The US relies on its satellites so having a technology to deal with them makes sense for Russian interests. This would be against US interests, but when was the last time the US did something that wasn't in their own interests? Russia needs to play the same game with the same rules.

with this there should be an physical aspect to receive the information manually as well as Internet communication this would be to insecure strategic logistics stat & info on a disc that can be catapulted and retrieved by satellite to and from space capital.
