My advice to the Russian Federation is to forget about the USSR antics of builing the "largest of everything" - these items were only for propaganda show. Time for RF to come into the real world of technological competition. RF should forget about spending funds and talents on this "Caspian Sea Monster" and devote more time on keeping up with America's advancements in stealth bomber technology. Sometimes I think that RF is still stuck in the old USSR mentality.

you are compeltely wrong Kihnu this was one of the only Projects that had alot of meaning. It can skim on the surface of the water and great speads faster then any ship or sub and flew well under the Radar of Planes and ground radar do to how low it was flying. It could deliever a 1000 russian Marines to the battlefield in a matter of minutes which would take a vessel possibly a full day to do.This is one of the few Programs that i love along with there Pakfa fighter and Pakda bomber this is right next to them!

It's a cool looking piece of tech but who is Russia going to invade with it? More money should be spent on improving schools, hospitals and life expectancy of the average Russian than keeping up the war effort.

It's not just about military application. This was also considered as a fast vehicle for civilian passengers, and in the Baltic in particular, it would be a quick way to get to other countries as a high speed taxi service. It certainly has great potential outside of military use.

A spectacular idea. This vehicle would be perfect for mass evacuations of areas for whatever reasons.

I am very happy they are returning this design and modernizing it. This was brilliant. Why spend money on this and military? If you want peace, prepare for war. I think if those lose fear of Russia, we'll be finished since we have many nations with claims on our territory, plus we have those who would like to gain access to resources. As long as technologies discovered and used eventually moves down into civilian sector and betters civil life, I am all for it. I am definitely against having a huge military budget as America. No nation should ever spend so much and become imperial.

Are they realy talking about a new project or about finishing the one unit that's been sitting 80% complete since the fall of USSR? Just finnishing the "search and rescue"-unit of the Lun' project would be impressive, however the military value might be a lot less than the resources spent.

I'm glad Russia is investing again on this project. As many have said here it's extremely valuable not only for the military but for civilian purposes. And as Artyom said, no nation should immitate the US military doctrine, in my view especially not Russia who traditionally has been more deffensive than offensive and whose greatest military successes have been while preserving itself and not imposing itself on others.

@Kihnu America's advancements in stealth technology are not very impressive. All hype and no substance. The US is not in a great position here. Their technology has been found wanting, their costs extraordinarily high due to an ingrained military industrial profiteering system. Most Americans have no idea how poorly they have been served by multiple administrations. The US is on the way out as an imperial power. It's performance in all wars since WW2 have shown it to be virtually useless at anything but accelerating procurement dollars. The real question is what happens next. China is still growing at a phenomenal rate. They will be the next world superpower. How will everyone deal with that is the real question. The US and Russia are still in denial mode. The sooner they smarten up the better it will be for everyone. It will be easier for Russia, but I think the US will fin it difficult to adjust to being a regional power. Something that has already happened this last month in the Yellow Sea.

Wicked, saw that thing on a Modern Marvels episode I think. I see it as a ferry vehicle from the future, hell, combine it with the maglev concept for side to side stability, and you have the 'train' of the future at half the cost!
