One in a million: German boy hit by meteorite

The chances of being hit by a passing meteorite are tremendously small, but that’s exactly what has happened to a German schoolboy. The pea-sized space-traveling object hit the boy’s hand leaving a scar.

The article says "Wassonite is probably not the only mineral that for billions of years has remained unknown to scientists." but scientists haven't existed for billions of years!

. There is an asteroid named after me.... actually... it's named after my [NASA scientist] brother, but we share the same name :) .

@Jeff Exactly what I was thinking! Plus if Wassonite is 4 billion years old and was from a meteorite then it can only mean that the Earth was already being formed (or had been formed) when hit making the Earth way over 8-10 billion years old. Gets more and more bonkers the more we 'learn' about space.

. Some meteorites are from the moon... some are from Mars. .

@Robail....... Mc Fly, hey Mc Fly, What if the meteorite was formed over 4 billion years ago but hit earth only 1000 years ago. Would that still mean the earth has to be over 8-10 Billion years old.

The rock itself is 4 billion years old. The meteorite has not been sitting on an ice sheet in Antartica for 4 billion years.

.

Not much science news on RT... why is that ?

Saudi Arabia is interested in NASA projects. Would Saudi Arabia be an ideal spot to receive "beamed down" space-based solar ?

Mark: Please don't mix science with religion. And in that case, there are really no stars or asteroids because what we are really seeing is a sheet in the sky
