Some of the biggest websites were affected Thursday by a cyber attack aimed at a single person who used them to criticize Russia’s policy toward Georgia. Russia was blamed immediately. But is the story that simple?

Clearly Russia had its hand in it, Putin, FSB and the like. What is already amazing, the Russians are already denying that it had any part and is willing to "silence" its critics! What a country, what a people!

Sierra Nevada, do you have proof of your accusations? Suppose other agents (Countries) could have done this to frame Russia to get leverage on Russia in the future on other political issues. For example, in the Georgia-South Ossetia and Russian debacle, this event could be propaganda that is meant to fool sheep. Critical and thinking readers are too wise to jump to conclusions so early. Also, the Russians have not claimed this attack. Like the early attack on various U.S news and government sites that were initially blamed on North Korea, but an investigation pinned the attack to a place in the United Kingdom. The rabbit hole goes very deep my friend.

Russian hackers have been always assumed as the best in the world. The proof is Hollywood movies, but it's very foolish to think that there is any sense for Putin to initiate such deeds.

Opinions like the one expressed by Siera_Nevada is really the goal of the attack. Russian secret services could easily find the person behind the username and sillently eliminate him in one those charming "accidents", if they wanted to get rid of him/her... They are not that stupid to attack his blog and make him/her famous and the spearhead of western propaganda for some weeks. So don't be stupid, the secret services don't waste their time with bloggers. They use the blog system to spread propaganda and false information. If they start to hunt bloggers in any way, the others would be scared away from the internet and they would loose their best way to know what we think and to influence us. The internet is free not for our benefit but because they want us to express what we think so that they can manipulate us. Both CIA and FSB/SVR can easily find out who "ergatis" or "Sierra Nevada" really is. They don't care. They simply spy on blogs and Yutube to get statistics like "how much people love or hate USA or Russia in Europe". It is possible to be just an angry group of Russian hackers but not the secret services.
