Good way to live if you don't like our current crowded urban scene, but why use Solar Power when you're in the middle of the Ocean? Just use the gravimetric potential of all that water rushing from the top to the bottom of the tube to turn hydro-power generators. (better yet, skip the electric and use bioluminescent street lights. take a hint from Mother Nature in her own living room!) .and back to basics, we'll all starve before the ice-caps melt because our food production systems in use still run their thermodynamic clocks Backwards! - - your 100 calorie oatmeal breakfast costs one thousand calories to bring to the table.
