If Russia really wanted to bomb Tiblisi they had every opportunity in 2008. The reality is that the only problem between Russia and Georgia is Saakashvili. Once he is gone I doubt Russia and Georgia will be best buddies, but at least they will have normal relations. Can't see South Ossetia or Abkhazia ever wanting to be part of Georgia though.

I really hope Russia will never bomb Tbilisi! Let us see who wins the next elections in Georgia. If Saakashvili's party should win and form the next government, too, I think Russia should consider to rebuild normal relations despite concerns. Maybe the Christian Churches of Russia and Georgia can help to restart friendly relations, as far as I know, they were not involved in any conflict, and Christians use to be "experts" in forgiving!
