What a nice surprise, people actually conducting themselves legally in a custody dispute. What miracle next! could we see the EU starting to do law, instead of politics everywhere. Now that would be something to see in my lifetime. I must say, maybe countries like Portugal and Spain, still understand what law is. Let them educate the rest of Europe.

I can't even imagine what this kid is feeling right now. for me a mother is who gives you love and teaches you how to be a kind and nice person and not someone that just has the same genitics. i'm really disappointed with the portuguese court decision. As a human being I just can say, SHAME ON YOU, mrs natalia zarubina! someone that is so rude and hits her own daughter in front of tv cameras can't be a good person. I really hope that her foster parents can win her back! Good luck for them

That´s a terrible mistake! Please see the blog that have more information about that case: *** The most important thing is the happiness of that girl, and with that mother that cannot be possible. In Portugal that litle girl was very mistreated by her mother. The russian and portuguese people wish that Alexandra come home in Portugal, to the family that really loves her.

I feel very sad about this wrong judiciary decision. They took a little persons norman life and put her in the very stressful environment. I think that in this situation the girl is already old enough to take her view into account. Now she will finish school much later because due to language problem she cannot understand even a simplest thing. And due to not good situation at her Russian home, may be will never be able to recover. I really hope that judges will review the decision. Cannot wait when the girl will be returned to her real loving family not biological mother. Plese if any person who can help it happen Help a little girl to have a normal life (Hope she will be able after all this) God help her

Last year have moved from the USA (where we lived for 21 years) to f Russia. It is a common misconception in the West to think that life in Russia is horrible. We are extremely happy that we live now in Russia that offers unspeakable resources in culture, education and work. Russia is on the way of spiritual revival. Thousands of churches and monasteries, have been opened and restores. They are full of young people, prayers in the air. Our children, both teenagers, attend a Russian school. They are very very happy because they enjoy their teachers and wonderful education. Education in Russia is superb, both at schools and at higher educational establishments. I taught in colleges in the USA for 20 years and I can bet that secondary education in Russia is much better at schools than in the USA, and higher education is as good and in many ways better that in the USA.

n Russia there is good public medical care (I speak from my own experience). Medical care offers private medical service as well. Article 40 of the Constitution of Russia guarantees residence to every citizen of Russia, that is homelessness in Russia is illegal. A lot is done to help people here, including homeless alcoholics and drugaddicts. We have been very impressed with all the reforms that have been taken place in Russia. Young people here have incredible opportunities to receive great education and good jobs. Every day in Russia is a move forward. The government cares about people and does a lot to stop corruption, provide social securities, homes to low income and the military etc. I am very happy for this little Russian girl that she came back to her mother, her roots, a beautiful city of Yaroslavl, where I have been many times. Yaroslavl was founded in 1010. There are magnificent churches and monasteries in the city and around. http://www.yarmp.yar.ru/index.php?title=Main_page&uselang=en This little girl will be raised with deep faith in her heart, with deep love for her ancient city and country. Look here - http://sobory.ru/article/index.html?object=00582 The beauty of Yaroslavl is unspeakable. One needs to visit the city and see it, visit its churches, cathedrals and monasteries. Yaroslavl is part of the famous Golden Ring of Russia which includes ancient Russian cities that for a thousand years have been historic and cultural centers of the Holy Russia. God Bless You, little girl! We are very happy for you.

reeks of the same situation with a Chinese family who had their child removed to the hands to radical Christian fundamentalists, but I'm glad to hear the Portugese courts made the right decision, the biological parent is where she belongs. if you feel otherwise, is your sentiment that all children of Russia should go up for adoption? turn that state into factory for child trafficking? how would you feel if it was suggested that all people unemployed in the EU are not fit to care for their children and should be put up for adoption? all EU citizens on welfare don't deserve to keep their kids? it's the same thing.

Lets just hope the mother doesn't get bored again in a few years and just dumps the kid on somebody else, like she did the first time.

It's a pity that politicans and bureaucracy solve such problems but not psychologists and educators of both countries. The first thing which necessary to see what is "mother" liking to drink educates their children and to try imagine the future life of Alexandra. If you see Russian TV programs about this family attentively, you can clearly see more negative than positive changes in it. I hope Portugal grandparents could meet Alexandra soon. And wish these kind people all the best!
