I assume Irans has already placed an order (because if ever a country needed cutting edge defensive systems it is Iran right now). Non of us can afford to see what the 'consequences' of an attack on Iran by the USA or Israel (or both) will be, so any deterranat against such an attack will be greatly appreciated..............

Based on the quick developments of the Katusha multiple rocket launchers to the famous T-34 Tanks that won WWII for the Soviet Union over seemingly ‘invisible’ the Third Reich’s war machine, Russians have a good record of developing the best defensive weapons in the world. The Greyhound technology follows this tradition. Now, the next logical step for Russia is the mass production of these weapons and share them with nations threatened with preemptive imperialistic wars of aggression.

Soviet/Russian air defense systems have always been more advanced than those developed in the West, because Soviet/Russian Air Forces have always been smaller and less advanced when comapred to Western Air Forces. Developing better air defense systems Soviets/Russians have tried to compensate this disadvantage they have with their Air Forces. NATO Air Forces are so large and advanced so they have thought that they don´t need to invest huge sums in developing highly advanced air defense systems because in every conflict scenario in the beginning they always have the air superiority. NATO Air Forces (especially Amricans ever since the Vietnam War) have also developed highly advanced and effective anti-air defense attacking techniques.

For every weapon there are counter measures. An arms race in air defense systems is at least safer for the world than an arms race in nuclear warheads and their delivery systems.

This system does appear to be a effective means of shooting down drones which the American military has used with great publicity over Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Soon the drones will start carrying chaff to deflect the homing missiles and will be accompanied by "Wild Weasel drones", so on and so on. The skies will be full of drones, counter drones; and, the Greyhound AA systems will be trying to shoot them all down. Hopefully, future wars will be fought with minimal spilling of human blood - but, that would take all the fun out of wars for the Rambo-like folks blasting away at Afghans and Iraqis today.

Comments, Soviet/Russian aircraft designs have generally had superior characteristics compared with NATO aircraft. The main difference, however is that Western aircraft have always had superior avionics systems.

A drones nightmare... and deadly vs. helicopter too. Being able to mount the system almost anywhere and mass produce it in large numbers is great as well.
