Boozy kids: too young to drink

Getting a bottle of booze is not a problem for kids in Russia. Those who are 14 and even younger say they are never asked for any proof of age in the shops. Curbing underage drinking is becoming a top priority.
What I have heard instead is that lately a lot more Russians are dying of alcohol abuse than used to be anywhere near normal. Also sexual abuse is rampant as the country experiences a unique set of social problems. I heard this awful new song called Vodka by a band named "Koprilaani." It's disgusting how blatantly it glorifies actually needing to get wasted. The fact that this new Vodka song is getting HUGE internet radio play makes me think this trend is real, maybe even manufactured (by vodka makers.)

This teenage alcohol problem is simular in America. Yet in American there are BLUE LAWS or ancient (200 years) Christian religious morals. One drop of beer and your soul will go to hell and tortured by Satan and his/her demons through all eternity. Look at situation philospically. Russian youth are drinking beer 5-10 percent alcohol. Would you rather have them drinking vodka at 40 percent alcohol.? It is a close race. British drink most beer. Germans are second. America and Australia are tied for third -- read the trade publications. In Ameica beer is classified as alchohol the same as wine and vodka. Maybe Russian laws are obsolete. Maybe beer drinking is a HEALTHFULL alternative to vodka drinking. This may be part of the Westernization of Russian Youth. Beer instead of Vodka. Peace.
