German Chancellor Angela Merkel says the international community needs the support of Russia and China in tackling the Iranian nuclear problem.
The statement was made during talks with U.S. President George W. Bush in Texas.
She added that if the UN Security Council imposed new sanctions on Iran, it would send a clear signal.
During the meeting, the countries' leaders also discussed other international issues including the future status of Kosovo.
