RT Arabic Channel cameraman released by Hamas militants

Published 24 Aug, 2007 23:40 | Updated 25 Aug, 2007 03:40

A cameraman for the RT Arabic Channel has been released by Hamas militants. Mustafa Al Baid was among journalists who were filming a protest organised by Fatah supporters near the Hamas security compound in Gaza and were detained.

When Hamas security men tried to confiscate a camera from the Reuters cameraman, his colleagues reportedly attempted to stop them and were immediately arrested.

The four detained journalists were briefly held by Hamas and later released.

Mustafa Al Baid has been taken to safety.

Eyad Abu Awad, a journalist from Russia Today Arabic Channel, told more details about the incident.
