The Russian Judo Olympic team may have a new member. It is none other than the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
I remember that scene in the movie called "Fight Club" where they each say who they would choose to fight. "Gandhi says one guy...because he wouldn't fight back". Somehow, I don't see many people wanting to pick a fight with Putin ! Or perhaps the rather effeminate M16 boss John Sawyers fancies his chances. Sawyers could always wear a mask and go by the stage-name of "Camp Crusader"
Neall McCabe, you have correctedly noted that this image is a projection of the bodypolitic and masculinity. This is why whenever Putin asserts himself in the public- in his physicality- the Anglo American media goes wild! Putin’s PR people know this and they bring Putin now and then to make do him something that reflects his status of physical health and agility in order to make a larger point. Now, it is clear that there is no Western leaders today with physical prowess and mental agility of Vladimir Putin. Russia needs to use his image to regenerate the health of the nation’s population and military strength.
Probably the best and smartest statesman/politician the world has ever known. God grant him many years for the sake of a strong, unified, and prosperous Russia.
Imagine a world run but giants such as Putin, Castro, Chavez, instead of lilliputians like Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush W. God bless leaders who work for people power. Merry Christmas and peace to the world.
I had just read that Putin may want to join the Russian Judo team in the next Olympics, and saw a video footage of him pracrticing judo.I think it would be great to see him in the next Olympics. To see a known political figure competing, would be great not only for him,but also for Russia.I wish him the the best of luck to Putin.
If Mister Putin has the abilities to compete; then he has the right to participate but must not receive any particular priviledges. This means: living in the olympic village with the russian team and not having a thousand body-gards to protect him. Our Sarkonaparte could try bicycle racing; just to make us laugh a little because the french spirit needs to be bolsted. Sincerely... Jean-Claude Meslin
Is Putin "PUTIN US ON" with this JUDO thing? If he should win a gold medal it would be sort of like a consolation prize for not being given the "NOBEL PEACE PRIZE". At Putin's age, a gold medal may be wishful thinking.
It's a Kalki, but not in the racist way. He's a good leader, though I understand why he needs so many body guards. Flitting around. That was a productive use of ADHD and spirituality both. I would be afraid to lose popularity if I were him - or any Russian leader. Think if he got hurt or something. It's like that Chinese runner, shamed for life. That's too much pressure with too much to lose. You do what you do well. Not everything, though it's tempting. He's already proven himself. It's okay. He doesn't have to conquer the world. President Obama is athletic as well, just doesn't show off all of the time. Our leaders are softer as well for a few reasons, so it would be unwise for him to do much. Actually, Putin is soft for a Russian leader, more suggestion than actual force. I think they're trying to move away from their normal nature, but it's probably difficult up there. No doubt that we'll turn into China within a few decades, and they'll go back to doing what they do best.

I am convinced that if Putin decides to join the Russia’ Judo team, he could win a cold medal for Russia but the cost his security and media attraction thi will bring to the Russian and other teams is not worth the effort. But Putin should play with team as it prepares for the Winter Games in Vancouver. He should then take a train with the team and enter Canada via Pacific Coast as the media follows along! This route could be a gate way between Pacific Coast of Canada, Russia and Asia.
