The Russian Judo Olympic team may have a new member. It is none other than the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Talking with the national team on Friday, he applauded the team’s successes.
Moreover, the Prime Minister has offered his services to help the national judo team's Olympic dream.
“If you need hands-on assistance, you may enter me into the team,” Putin told the team’s coach.
The Russian Prime Minister advocates the development of judo in the country.
Vladimir Putin has a black belt in the martial art and competed at a high level in the USSR.
Plenty of finger pointing after pretty fruitless Copenhagen summitWorld leaders reached a deal of sorts to tackle global warming, but the summit in Copenhagen has been widely seen as a failure, especially by developing countries – and many blame the US and China for refusing to budge. |
Moscow winter swimmers get frosty for 50th year runningThe harsh cold in Moscow has most people covering up to keep warm. But some Russians ignore that and strip down to plunge into the icy depths of frozen lakes. |
Is Putin "PUTIN US ON" with this JUDO thing? If he should win a gold medal it would be sort of like a consolation prize for not being given the "NOBEL PEACE PRIZE". At Putin's age, a gold medal may be wishful thinking.
If Mister Putin has the abilities to compete; then he has the right to participate but must not receive any particular priviledges. This means: living in the olympic village with the russian team and not having a thousand body-gards to protect him. Our Sarkonaparte could try bicycle racing; just to make us laugh a little because the french spirit needs to be bolsted. Sincerely... Jean-Claude Meslin

It's a Kalki, but not in the racist way. He's a good leader, though I understand why he needs so many body guards. Flitting around. That was a productive use of ADHD and spirituality both. I would be afraid to lose popularity if I were him - or any Russian leader. Think if he got hurt or something. It's like that Chinese runner, shamed for life. That's too much pressure with too much to lose. You do what you do well. Not everything, though it's tempting. He's already proven himself. It's okay. He doesn't have to conquer the world. President Obama is athletic as well, just doesn't show off all of the time. Our leaders are softer as well for a few reasons, so it would be unwise for him to do much. Actually, Putin is soft for a Russian leader, more suggestion than actual force. I think they're trying to move away from their normal nature, but it's probably difficult up there. No doubt that we'll turn into China within a few decades, and they'll go back to doing what they do best.
