"Childless on principle" gains ground in Russia

More and more young people prefer not to have children out of principle – simply because they do not need them.
The intelligent people will die out and the imbeciles will multiply. The "human beings" will eventually climb back into the trees to chew leaves and nuts in order to survive. Perhaps the history of the human being is such that after advancing to a certain level it collapses on its own will down to the level of the ape again.
Certainly there is not enough support here for the bringing up of children, and that is why some people feel they do not want to be limited by children. Here, it is imperative that a woman enters work early, because otherwise she will be left on the shelf in working terms, then if she does have children then it becomes imperative to return to work quickly, to further her career. The clock runs fast in Russia, if you don't make it early on in your years, you are finished. Yes there are provisions to keep jobs open, but in practical terms they count little. Yes there are child care places, but early on the child gets sick often, and the woman faces supporting by staying off work. Then on top of this a man in Russia is sometimes a short term addition to a relationship, so the woman knows quite often she could be left alone, with little alimony. Old grandmother often helps, but if the woman is a high flyer, in another town, well that's the end of that. So we better change it a little, if we want to make it easier to bring up children and allow people to make a choice based on wishes rather than limitations and constraints. What I would like to see is us maybe becoming a nation of nannies, rather than a nanny state. Meaning enabling a network of vetted affordable, regulated nanies and better early years childcare. Meaning allowing innovation in childcare provison, for small companies and individuals to pick up on, fully regulated and money backed by the government to some extent. On top of this it would be nice to see us stengthening laws around job security and alimony and then attacking ageism which is endemic in our working culture.
Rebellion against traditional moral values, the extreme individualism and a mistaken emancipation of women are undermining our society, at first in America, then in Europe and finally in Russia.. Therefore we are week and our demographic trend is negative (not in the USA, but I suspect that their trend is not at a loss thanks to the hispanic and islamic communities). On the contrary, the social organization in many African and Asian countries, especially the islamic ones, is often founded on the submission of women, but is stronger and their demographic trend is on the rise. Both Russia and the Western world would have to pay more attention to these problems, to help women willing to have a family etc. Unfortunatly most of our efforts (or at least those of the American government) are wasted in endless disputes and in the attempt of encircling militarily Russia.

you'll still end up better off than canada. Canada's birthrate is around 1.6, I believe, and it is an AGING population. It sounds terrible, but because your life expectancy is not high in Russia, you will actually end up with fewer dependents in a couple decades' time. I just don't see a happy ending for canuckistan or for western europe; the entitlement culture is deep-rooted, the societies in question are aging rapidly, and they are facing systemic budget deficits. The excited states might remain a global power by default - and that would be tragic for humanity.

The article misses an important factor. It does not explore the central significance that Russia’s sharp decline of birth rates dates back to 30 years. The last 30 years have times of upheaval and economic deprivation in Russia. Second, Russia needs to adopt economic policies which favour families with small children or those who want have children. These measures shall include, affordable preschool and kindergarten care centers, second, Russian Federation laws must be changed to make workplaces friendly to working mothers; increase social housing and health benefits to the those in the armed forces-because this segment of the society is most patriotic and most likely they would want to have children. Russia needs to curb the billionaire making culture of greed and return to its historic roots of society driven by the values of working people.
