Writers win Russian-language gongs

Writers from Moldovia, Ukraine and Tajikistan have scooped the pool at the third annual literary prize, known as “The Russian Award”. The event, held at the Moscow House of Writers, rewards writers who print in Russian from Baltic and CIS coun

The main aim of the contest is to support Russian language and to keep the popularity of Russian culture.

The fund of the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin officially maintains the award.

Writers whose works are selected for inclusion in the prize’s shortlist took part in the awards ceremony.

The award is handed out in 3 categories: large prose, small prose and poetry.

Vladimir Lorchenkov from Moldavia won the prize for large prose. Oleg Zavyazkin from Ukraine was announced to be the best in poetry. It is remarkable that his award-winning pose is fully devoted to jail lyrics.

The prize for short prose went to Gulcheckhra Pulatova from Tajikistan. She is a school teacher of English and barely considered herself a writer until this award.
