Well-known drummer Aronoff headlines "ZildJian day" show

Published: 27 November, 2006, 08:49

The world famous drum show “ZildJian day” is in Moscow. John Tempesta, Simon Phillips and Pat Torpey were among headliners of previous shows. This time one of the world's top drummers, Kenny Aronoff, topped the bill.

Kenny Aronoff has been a drum legend for the past 26 years. His first hit sealed his success and since then Kenny has recorded over 300 records with different acts including Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and John Bon Jovi. He works in different styles: from jazz to rock, and from country music to heavy metal.

Kenny opened the concert in Moscow not only with his vibrant music but also with a bit of history behind the pieces. He believes every audience is unique. This is the second time he's performed in Moscow and he seems to have formed a connection with the passionate Russian audience.

Kenny's grandparents were from Odessa and even though he doesn't speak a word of Russian his roots seem to draw him back. He first played in Moscow with the Smashing Pumpkins. Back then he wrecked his drum kit. After his performance in the Russian capital the next stop will be the city of Novosibirsk for another show on the 28th of November.
