Winter fishing is a popular pastime in Russia. This time, brave children have been taking part in a contest on the outskirts of Moscow to catch as many fish as possible in sub-zero temperatures.

The 0.4 metres thick ice is said to be safe enough even for a vehicle. Just in case, a crew from the Russia’s Emergencies Ministry is patrolling the site to make sure no accidents occur.

But the kids don’t pay much attention as they’re so gripped by the fishing fever.
