Virus floors Sharapova in Dubai

The world number five, Russian Maria Sharapova, has been forced to withdraw from the Dubai championships with a viral infection. The Australian Open champion was due to play her first round match today.

But said she was battling illness during her Qatar Open triumph at the weekend.

Sharapava is unbeaten this season.
