An exhibition of works by a Russian painter, Ludmila Vasilyeva-Lipetskaya, has opened at the Moscow Arts Centre. The display called “My Daughter in the New World” has attracted many viewers.

Mabri is the artistic pseudonym of the artist. The painter presented her series of works dedicated to a young girl living in New York. The girl’s name is Kristina, and she is Mabri's daughter.

“There is a bit of me in her. I come to see her every year and stay there for a couple of months. We are very close to each other, but our relations are not always calm,” said the artist.

Such sharp moments are clearly seen in the art work; using broken lines and angles, the painter stresses the prickliness of her daughter's character.

“Mabri's works are very expressive. That's what attracts me as a gallery director. She creates a kind of a force field with special energy and strong emotions,” said Polina Lobachevskaya, the gallery director.

Coming from a mother's point of view, the work is like a general portrait of modern youth.
