The Kremlin receives jewellery gifts from St. Petersburg

Moscow's Kremlin has hosted an exceptional exhibition of emperor's jewellery. Most of the items showcased have been kept in the Hermitage museum of St. Petersburg and have become available for Moscow audiences just for now.

It was Russia's emperor Peter the First who founded the Imperial gallery of jewellery. He invited not only the best architects from all over Europe to create the city of St. Petersburg but also the best jewellery masters to decorate his palaces.

The first collection of the jewellery gallery in the Winter Palace was bought from Moscow's armour museum in the Kremlin. Then the gallery was expanded with other collections.

Experts say, one of the most precious or, more accurately, priceless items in the show is a copy of the Imperial regalia, created by internationally renowned Carl Faberge.

Everything which was on display is masterpiece gift to the Kremlin museum on its anniversary.
