Published: 15 March, 2007, 11:59

Russian tennis players Nikolay Davydenko and Vera Zvonareva have been defeated at Indian Wells Masters Series by Andy Murray of the UK and Na Li of China respectively.

Andy Murray – one of those who reaches the last 8 in the men's draw – defeated Nikolay Davydenko.

Davydenko got off to a great start breaking Murray's serve in the first game. But it was the Scot who took the set on a tie-break and began to edge ahead in the second – with Davydenko broken, Murray went on to win in straight sets 7-6 6-4 and move through to the quarter-finals.

In the last eight, he will meet Tommy Haas, who downed Chile's Fernando Gonzalez in straight sets, easy win for the German – 6-3, 6-2.

David Ferrer of Spain is through to quarters at the other end of the draw. His match-up against compatriot Carlos Moya went down to the decisive set, with the Spaniard taking it 6-3. He will play Novak Djokovic.

One of the last Russians in the ladies event, Vera Zvonareva has been knocked out by Na Li of China. Some solid baseline tennis from the Chinese player here in the opening set and she wins the point with an impressive volley.

Na Li took the match in two sets, 6-3 7-5 to reach the semis of the event for the first time in her career.

In the final four, she will take on Daniela Hantuchova, who survived a three-set thriller against Shahar Peer of Israel, taking the match in the decisive tie-break.
