The war correspondent does a nice job of recreating the scene before and during his duty in the Georgia-Russian War. War news, of course, is not consistent because of propaganda of the other side. From my perspective in the USA, Russia had their troops poised at the Georgian border, as if they knew the president of this small republic would invade Osettia. And invade they did, but it wasn't long before a much larger Russian force was able to drive Georgians out and take over Georgia. My view is that the entire operation was a set up deal. Putin, or was it Medvedev -- prepared carefully for this invasion, which included government press representatives to "feed" the news to reporters like the writer of this excellent article.
