The final stage of the competition for the right to host the 2014 Olympic Games is underway. Russia’s Black Sea resort Sochi is the first of the three candidate cities to submit their bid-files.

Sochi has a unique geographic location and a mixed alpine and Mediterranean climate.

The weather varies from 20 degrees Celsius on the coast to minus 8 on the slopes.

Russian bid committee officials say that Sochi's infrastructure for the Olympic Games will be built from scratch.

Now a colourful book of three volumes has been published to persuade the Olympics officials that Russia can manage the hosting of 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

“This three-volume bid file has around 500 pages of concise information. It presents the worlds' best experience of hosting the Olympic Games,” says  Dmitry Chernyshenko, Head of 2014 Games Bid Committee. “It’s a very important and meaningful day for us, when we sum up the nearly half-and-a-year operation of a great number of people, real professionals. Sochi has to use it's competitive advantages, although all infrastructure for the Winter Games will have to be built from scratch.”
