Roaming through endless Siberian tundra. That's how the indigenous Nenets people of north-eastern Russia have been living for centuries. But their prospects have improved in recent times as new neighbours arrive in the form of workers attached to Russia'

Now the Nenets are making a good profit by selling reindeer meat to oil employees. Another new source of income for the herders is monitoring oil pipelines for leaks and spills.
