Thousands poured into Luzhniki stadium supporting Spartak, on dangerous ground after a scoreless away draw. Midfielder Santos Mozart gave the home crowd what they wanted in the twenty-third minute, a beautiful long drive making it 1-nil to the hosts.

Ten minutes into the second half, Slovan were cut down to ten men when centre-back and captain Tomas Zapotocny was sent off for obstructing a flying Vladimir Bystrov. But the ten-man Czech champions responded as Martin Jiranek gave away a dubious penalty for a foul on Zbynek Pospech after 77 minutes.

Ivan Hodur stepped up to send Wojciech Kowalewski the wrong way from the spot, putting Slovan in the driving seat on the away goals rule. Five minutes later, Mozart, still orchestrating midfield, had his run and cross cleared into the path of Sergey Covalchuk, his misfit shot headed on by Roman Pavluchenko for the win. Cska won 2-nil at Rujomberok to go through 5-nil on aggregate.
