The second life of post punk hits: Nouvelle Vague in Moscow

It is said that the French do to not need to apply additional efforts to be refined and stylish. The veterans of the French ambient and new wave scene, Nouvelle Vague, come to Moscow to prove this is true.
This group performs remakes of new wave songs and post-punk groups popular back in the 1980s in Latin American styles like bossa nova or rumba. This was the original concept of two musicians, Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, who have always admired the music of the late 1970s and early 1980s and became the project’s producers.
They have invited eight charming women vocalists to participate in the project: six Frenchwomen, one Brazilian and one American from New York. But as the idea was to make old songs sound absolutely different from the original, the producers invited only those vocalists who have never heard the original versions of the songs.
They’ve released two albums since 1998, having recorded the “Too Drunk to Fuck” hit from The Dead Kennedys, Billy Idol’s “Dancing with Myself”, punk hit “Guns of Brixton” from The Clash and many, many other beautiful songs, giving them a second life.
The grace of the performance and French charm has made them a very popular band in Europe. On August 29 the musicians will perform their concert at Moscow’s “Hermitage” Garden, closing the NuNote Lounge Fest.
