WWF experts say that the heat Russia is experiencing could become the norm in less than 60 years.
The reason for such an assumption is based not so much on the record temperatures, but on the abnormal length of the current heat wave, which could be an indicator of things to come.
Whereas some of the attendant environmental changes – for instance, mild winters – would be welcome, the disadvantages – including droughts, forest fires and health risks – are far more numerous.
