A world-known symbol of Russia, as well as a wild and exciting way of transportation, the troika continues to charm and challenge throughout the years.
The troika, the horses, fabulous Orlov Trotters, and their people are amazing. The center horse in your feature was a great racer, won the Bars Prize and much, much more. He is a breeding stallion at Moscow Stud Farm #1. And in his spare time, he is the prized and champion "korennik" in the Russian national troika! Such universal horses are these beautifully tempered Orlov Trotters! The driver is uniquely skilled and speaks truly of the love it takes to drive the three beauties; he himself is the heir to a most wonderful troika driver, A. Pankov, and L. Smagli carries on this great tradition. The MKZ Director who appears in the film is greatly responsible for the survival of this miraculous tradition, and for the breeding of these great Orlov Trotters, their numbers now dangerously low. And Alla Polzunova is a voice for all Russian trotters; she is in herself an enduring and special phenomenon.
These horses are gorgeous! It's an unbelievable experience to ride a troika, I highly recommend it!
