Russian universities are celebrating the Day of Saint Tatyana, the patron of all students and teaching staff. The tradition is over 250 years old and marks the day when the Moscow State University was founded.

Usually celebrations begin with the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy the Second holding a special service at the University chapel of St. Tatyana.

This year Russian students marked the occasion by holding a Miss Student 2007 competition and organizing a youth festival at Moscow State University.
