Lucky Moscow officials may soon get the right to pay for the presents they get.

Under current anti-corruption legislation, Moscow officials have to hand in to a special ethics commission every present they have received. The commission then helps the applicants distinguish gifts from bribes.

However, soon there may be some very positive changes: a new law being developed by City Hall will enable civil servants to buy back any expensive gifts they get.

The law will only apply to gifts costing more than 3,000 rubles ($100) that were received at official events or on business trips abroad.
