When thinking of traditional Russian symbols you might think of the Kremlin or the matryoshka doll, but would footwear come to mind? All year round millions of Russians used to wear shoes made from linden or birch strips.

Light and thin, they are designed in such a way that protect from sharp frosts of up to -20 degrees.

Nowadays few people have the skills to make lapti but they are very much in demand as the traditional footwear seems to be making a comeback.
