One of the most complex and tricky, Russian language might soon become much easier to learn. The main reason, lexicologists say, is plenty of new English words that have just made it into the culture.
The happy conclusions were prompted by a new edition of the "Big Russian Dictionary," to be released in 2011.
Among the many English entries are "glamour," “image,” “spontanny” (“spontaneous”) and "creativnost" (“creativity”).
The word “reload” has gained a political shade in addition to its original IT meaning – after Russia and the US “reloaded” their relations in 2009.
Finally, the world wide web has made most of the contributions, such as "blogger" and "zafriendit" ("to befriend").
An analogous Russian word for googling – "zagooglit" – is widely used, too, though the term so far has not made it into the dictionary.
By the way, you can "zafriendit" Prime Time on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube!

Cyrillic has been and should be the way Russian is to be written. Anything else will be the dumbed-down version. A book was written here in India on the Romanisation of Hindi ; linguists here had the sense to ignore it

majeed said linguists "had sense to ignore it"... I (as a possible "purist") would have preferred they criticized the attempt to pollute/dilute the language. I strongly agree using Cyrillic is as essential to Russian language as is the proper use of Greek alphabet, Hindi Devanagri, Urdu or Thai script, Korean characters, and so on....
