The Breakthrough Rally, the Russian equivalent of the Dakar event, has started from Moscow’s Red Square. Drivers and their navigators are due to cover 25,000 km drive through 25 countries across Europe and Africa.
The Russian Breakthrough will run parallel to the world famous Dakar rally, which involves not only cars but motorbike and trucks from over 40 countries. The rally will pass through much of Europe then to Africa via Spain, down the Northwest coast of Africa and across the central part of the continent ending in Djibouti. All the drivers and navigators taking part in this rally are Russian and most of the cars are Russian-made.
