The living legend, Russian choreographer, Igor Moiseev has celebrated his 101st birthday. A gigantic dance spectacular has been held in his honour at the Moscow Kremlin Palace.

Unfortunately, Mr Moiseev couldn't attend the performance, but the dancers did their best to uphold the high standard in the master's absence.

Founded in 1937, the Folk Dance Ensemble was the first dance group of a totally new genre – staged folk dance.  Moiseev revived more than 300 traditional dances from different countries and turned them into ballet masterpieces.

Marking its 70th birthday this year, the ensemble will present a jubilee performance in the beginning of February in Moscow.
