A Russian-born scientist has solved a maths problem that had had experts scratching their heads for almost four decades. Using just a pencil and paper, Avraham Trahktman, who immigrated to Israel in 1990, cracked what is known as the Road Colouring proble
The puzzle involves a person being lost in a strange town and being able to find his way to a friend's house from no matter where he is lost through instructions he is given.
The formula can also be applied to other problems such as tracing e-mails lost in a computer system.
Trahktman, who is 63, is developing an algorithm for his solution, which is creating a stir among many mathematicians.
