Russia takes Davis Cup Final in tie break

In front of his many home fans in Moscow Marat Safin in a hard fight defeated Jose Acasuso 3 sets to 2, giving Russia only their second ever Davis Cup Final victory.
It was an emotion charged final day of the Final, with former Russian president Boris Yeltsin cheering for Russia and football legend Diego Maradona cheering for Argentina.The trophy was in the balance until the final match. Safin took the first set 6-3, Acasuso leveled things in the second taking it by the same score. The Russian sportsman then took the third and the crucial fourth set in a tie break and sealed an overall 3-2 personal victory and an overall competition triumph for Russia.
