Russia have been somewhat lucky in avoiding the toughest group in the draw in next summer's European Championships.

But the country will take on current champions Greece, Spain and Sweden in next summer's group stages in Austria and Switzerland.

Russia coach Guus Hiddink reckons his side can cause an upset at next year's European championship.

Greece and Spain finished top of their qualifying groups. But Hiddink doesn't think reaching the quarter-finals is an impossible task.

“We are happy to be at the tournament. Now we must go and show that we are competitive and make a surprise,” the Dutchman said.

The draw for the group stages has taken place in Switzerland. The sixteen teams have been put into four groups of four.

Final tournament draw is as follows:

Group A: Switzerland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Turkey

Group B: Austria, Croatia, Germany, Poland

Group C: Netherlands, Italy, Romania, France

Group D: Greece, Sweden, Spain, Russia
