Rossi strengthens lead in Moto GP overall standings

Valentino Rossi stormed to victory at Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix. The five-time world champion started second on the grid but hit the front when he overtook Spain's Dani Pedrosa on the opening lap.

That maneuver on the opening corner proved decisive. The Italian was able to hold that lead throughout the race winning by just over a second from Pedrosa.

Victory sends Rossi nine points clear of Casey Stoner in the overall standings. The Australian finished down in 5th place on the day.
