The world number one beat 2003 champion Andy Roddick to secure his ninth Grand Slam at the age of just 25 and sits alone at sixth in the all-time slam-winning rankings, behind Pete Sampras' record 14.
Federer raced to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and then completed a 6-2 victory in just 29 minutes. Roddick fought back in the second and, with the help of the crowd, took at by 6 games to 4 with an early break.World number then edged out the number 9 seed 7-5 in the third and upped his game in the fourth to take game, set and match 6-2 4-6 7-5 6-1.
