Moscow's malls are home to many clothes stores – but an alternative's hit the scene offering creations by a 14 year old designer!
At the moment R'n'B music is the top of the league among Russia's youths. And now a Russian designer is trying to compete with Jennifer Lopez and Fornarina girlie brand for a share of the R'n'B clothing market.Kira aged just 14 has created a complete collection with just little help from professional designers.“We have a friendly team – we all work together. But still it's me who creates the main trend – and general ideas belong to me,” states Kira. This week Kira held an official opening of one of the 10 stores in Russia. The young designer declares her products as women clothes she would like to wear herself.R'n'B diva Jamelia was specially invited from London to cut the shop's red ribbon together with Kira. “I'm so proud of Kira for doing all of these… I think that's amazing. I wish I could do all this when I was fourteen!” admires Jamelia. And though they previously met only once before – a couple of weeks ago, Jamelia is already a fan of this brand.“Some of my friends have been asking ”where did you get these from“ and I'm like ”Mmm!“. But I'll let them know and send them all over to Moscow,” says Jamelia. In the meantime they may have to make do with the four hundred dollars worth of clothing that Jamelia bought here herself.Kira definitely has opportunity for the experiments in the fahion industry – possibly because the brand itself is established by her father – a major Russian businessman. An enormous for Russian industry amount of US$100 MLN will be invested into the young talent. “In the coming years we plan to open 100 shops across Russia. The first working weeks show that the collection has created high interest among shoppers,” says Sergey, young designer's father.
