A Proton rocket has blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The rocket is carrying a Norwegian communication satellite, which will provide television and data services across Europe.

It was built by a U.S.-Norwegian joint-venture and has an operational life of fifteen years.

This is the second rocket launch of the year.
