Another season and we get another stunning performance from costume-designer Tatiana Parfyonova. The designer’s ideas and the level of performance each time leave spectators speechless.
In her spring/summer 2011 collection, one of Russia’s best professional designers is rethinking the styles of 1960s and the times of two legendary Italian actresses and just gorgeous women – Monica Vitti and Sophia Loren. That is where the title of the collection – “Monica” – takes its roots.

The actresses’ images inspired Parfyonova to create elegant, womanly silhouettes, underlining the shapes of feminine body with narrow waist-belts. The designer combines light silk and chiffon with dark velvet, introduces impressive bows and scarves embroidered with colored beads, adds flowers onto coat lapels, and gives jackets a tiny cut that disclosed a part of a naked back.
The palette includes almost all the colors you can imagine. Bright floral embroideries go together with striped “formal suits”, yet you will not see anything superfluous. All the outfits are perfectly finished.
