A one-of-a-kind historic palace in St. Petersburg which belonged to the Russian Count Kushelev-Bezborodko will go under the hammer at the Russian auction house on December 10.
The privately-owned palace, situated in the historic center of St. Petersburg not far from the Summer Garden, was built in 1775 and is said to be a monument of architecture.
It’s the only building on the quay of the Neva River available for sale.
The whole palace complex, both the main house and its wing, is up for auction this winter and has 6,500 square meters of accommodation.
Designed by famous Russian architects Nikolay Benua and Aleksandr Bruni, the starting price for the palace is a mere $30 million.
The Russian auction house established earlier this August will hold the so-called descending-price “Dutch Auction” where the auctioneer opens with a high price and lowers it until the bidder accepts it.
