The draw for the Fed Cup final has been made with no place for Maria Sharapova in Russia's team to face holders Italy.
A rather unhappy looking Sharapova came out on court along with the team as the draw was made – and it was revealed there would be no place for Russia's number two.
Action at Moscow's Luzhniki stadium will begin tomorrow with Anna Chakvetadze taking on Italy's number one Francesca Schiavone. The second singles sees Svetlana Kuznetsova take on Mara Santangelo.
On Sunday it's the reverse singles, and then the doubles, where Nadya Petrova will partner Elena Vesnina against Santangelo and Roberta Vinci.
Meanwhile the draw for next year's competition has already been made, with top-seeded Russia to play Israel at home in their opening tie.
