While scientists and politicians feel the heat during their global warming rows in Copenhagen, in Moscow people are wrapping up tightly from the bitter frost that's hit the city.
The chill, which is seeing temperatures plummet to well below minus 20 celsius, is predicted to last until at least the end of the week.
With only two days remaining at the Copenhagen summit, world leaders will be meeting to discuss this issue on Wednesday, which continues to divide opinions. Over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of controversy as people question the science behind global warming theory. In Moscow, the Moscow river is completely frozen, and it is obvious why global warming and climate change is not at the forefront of people’s concerns – here it is incredibly cold.
Further, there have been two breakdowns in the central heating system in Moscow, and there are a large number of people who have suffered serious injuries from the cold. One person died.

The usual confused outpouring from Artyom that denialists all use. It illustrated perfectly the totally deranged mindset, that can't differentiate between weather and climate - clue: weather is what you have right there in the street/city/country now, climate is the global weather patterns over decades, hundreds and thousands of years. That you don't understand why global warming can be happening while you are cold merely displays your lack of intelligence, and smallmindedness. If you can only think in terms of self, I suggest you restrict yourself to commenting on simple things and leave global concerns to grownups. Weather can chnage from year to year and day to day, the global climate is changing and heating. This can result in more moisture in the air which then falls as rain, or, if local conditions allow, snow. It is indisputable that the actic and antactic ice sheets are melting as are all the glaciers and even the permafrost. Stop sticking your head in the sand and grow up.
The people for man made global warming will just tell you this is weather. Remember that! Then look back at the RT debate when a WWF Russia representative in support of man made global warming used the 1 week of 6 degrees Celsius in Moscow as sign of warming. However, here in Moscow, we have had 2 summers that averaged around 24 degrees while in the past we'd see days around 40 degrees Celsius in summer. What is even more funny is when it gets cold and they claim this is the result of global warming, but they dropped the warming and now just stick with climate change. Play on words, politics, and money. Many fat cats in Copenhagen and militaristic police stomping on anyone who tries to voice an opinion on the matter. Sounds to me a scam!

Thank you Peter. Sorry, for now global warming is bot being felt in Russia least during the winter season. Why is Denmark pushing about this summit. Because the Danes knew better, they had felt the effect and had seen it. True, weather should be differentiated from climate. Weather is temporary but climate is permanent, like global warming and the ozone layer. It is simply due to ignorance and the refusal to believe the earth is warming, belying the fact that global warming is a myth. Thank you as well to former US president Al Gore, least someone had mentioned that the earth is warming. The promise in Rio should be wrapped up in Copenhagen. The entire planet need to do something to stop this occurence before we fall victim of our own volition. Humans need to nuture mother Earth despite the advances in Science and technology. Save the little islands and attolls from vanishing int he surface of the earnt.
